Under Eye Wrinkle Cream - Fastest Way to Reduce EyeBags and Eye Wrinkles

Most people can deal with a few wrinkles without the worry of feeling older. However, when wrinkles start to appear heavily around the eyes making it seem as though your 10 or even 20 years older, something has got to be done. But therein lies the question -- what can be done to reduce the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles around the eyes? That's easy -- you just need to use an under eye wrinkle cream.Eye wrinkle cream is specially crafted to treat the area around the eyes, as that area is much more sensitive than other regions of the face. If you have ever applied a cream "too close" to your eyes, you know precisely why such a cream is important -- as regular anti-wrinkle creams will often irritate the eyes, leading to redness, itchiness, puffiness, etc.

Having said that, it is important to use a cream, such as under eye wrinkle cream, that has natural ingredients capable of soothing and caressing the eyes; rather than those that will irritate and bother them. And to be honest, trading wrinkled skin for younger looking skin that is constantly puffy, itchy, and red isn't too good of a trade-off.Wrinkle eye cream should be applied to the skin like any other anti-wrinkle cream. This means that you should apply it before bed as well as when you wake up in the morning -- and for women, be sure to apply the wrinkle cream before your put on your make-up.

And just like with using other wrinkle creams, you have to practice good skin care; cleanse your face thoroughly, avoid squinting, stop smoking, avoid cosmetic products with skin damaging ingredients, stop rubbing your eyes, use quality moisturizers regularly, etc. If, in addition to using an under eye wrinkle cream, you perform basic maintenance to preserve the youthfulness & integrity of your skin, the achieved results will be all the more impressive.Eye wrinkle cream isn't about fast & miraculous wrinkle removal treatment -- it's about long term, quality wrinkle removing results. This means you can't expect to apply the under eye wrinkle cream and then have perfect, youthful skin around your eyes within minutes.

It just doesn't work that way. However, that doesn't mean you should have to wait month after month to achieve results either. In fact, most of the people whom use under eye wrinkle cream see noticeable results within just 1-2 months. Do "results" imply complete wrinkle removal? No, not necessarily -- it just means they have had significant improvement in terms of eye wrinkle reduction. That being said, if you are interested in instantaneous wrinkle removal, wrinkle eye cream probably isn't for you.So, the big question now is; should you try under eye wrinkle cream? In all honestly, only you can truly answer that question -- but then again, with the awesome benefits that come with using this particular type of wrinkle, the answer should be quite obvious.

Under Eye Wrinkle Cream And How It Can Help Rid You Of Eye Wrinkles

Wrinkles don't bring about a whole lot of confidence in a person. In fact, most people will agree that having wrinkles makes them seem much older then they actually feel -- especially when those wrinkles start to appear around the eyes. When wrinkles & fine lines start to accumulate heavily in the eye region, the idea of being "young" or "youthful" pretty much goes out the window. That being said, instead of merely being middle-aged, those eye wrinkles will have launched you straight into the title of "old person". It's an unfortunate fact, but nonetheless true. However, don't let that get you down, as there is an easy way to get rid of eye wrinkles without spending a fortune -- it's called under eye wrinkle cream.Under eye wrinkle cream, or wrinkle eye cream, is perfect for people that suffer from eye wrinkles.

Why? Because it is specially made to repair & smooth the skin around the eyes. Some people will have wrinkles around their mouth; some will have them on or around the forehead; and others will develop astounding amounts of wrinkles specifically around their eyes. Having said that, it is crucially important for any & all eye wrinkle sufferers to use a specialized anti-wrinkle cream that can be gentle on the eye while still remaining tough on wrinkles. Why should you use an under eye wrinkle cream and not just any regular anti-wrinkle cream? Because it's safer for your eyes, period. Most anti-wrinkle creams, although typically safe to use, are not meant to be used on the eye region. This is due to the fact that they will likely cause some deal of irritation, which could come in the form of puffiness, redness, or itchiness -- all of which aren't very pleasant side-effects.

On the other hand though, eye wrinkle cream is specifically made NOT to cause irritation to the eye while still being potent enough to remove wrinkles & fine lines. In short, it's the only irritation-free way for an eye wrinkle sufferer to achieve effective wrinkle removal. What type of results can be reached with regular use of an eye wrinkle cream? Well, that'll depend on the under-eye wrinkle cream that you use -- but generally speaking, you should experience fewer wrinkles & fine lines, significantly less visible eye circles & eye bags, and dramatically smoother skin in the eye region. So, in layman's terms, prolonged use of a wrinkle eye cream will lead to younger, smoother looking skin around the eyes.Achieving noticeable results with an anti-wrinkle eye cream isn't going to be instantaneous.

As a matter of fact, it could take you quite awhile if you have "stubborn" skin. Some people go months without finding a reliable under eye wrinkle cream, while others get lucky and find the perfect cream with their very first purchase. Having said that, don't give up on your search too easily. If the first 2-3 creams didn't give you the results you were looking for, simply try & try again. It may not happen as fast as you'd like, but effective wrinkle removal can be reached in time.

The GSM encryption algorithm was broken

Put your tinfoil hats on - GSM encryption has been broken. This means that Evil Doers can listen in on your calls and read your SMS messages. Law enforcement agencies already have that capability, so this doesn't change things if Big Brother eavesdropping is what worries you.

The encryption algorithm used in the GSM network is called A5/1 and was developed in the distant year of 1987. There is a new standard called A5/3, which is much more secure, though not used by most carriers yet.

The published materials are not actually a complete wire-tapping tool - releasing that would be illegal. But it's a step away from becoming one. For about $30,000 you can buy hardware that would allow you to listen in on a call in real time. If real-time eavesdropping is not required, the price falls down to a few thousand dollars.

Of course, any sort of wire-tapping is illegal in most countries, as the GSMA was quick to point out, but that's like saying you can't buy a car that can go over 50 kilometers per hour because that would break the speed limit.

Still, wire-tapping hasn't been demonstrated (the researches don't want to go to jail and what not), so it's not clear how easy it would be to actually pull off in practice. The researchers claim that their main motivation is to push carriers to update to the new encryption algorithm and they just might - if they get enough bad publicity.

And before you actually put on a tinfoil hat and stop using your mobile phones keep two things in mind: 1) no one will pay 30 grand to listen to you talk to your mom and 2) phone scams are a much bigger security threat than breaking the GSM encryption.

Spain's Telefonica said on Wednesday the 02 units were purchased, Jajah, a provider of Internet phone service in the United States and Israel established for 145 million euros (207 million euros).

The all-cash transaction is subject to approval by the antitrust authorities of Spain, the former state monopoly in a statement.

Like Skype, Jajah lets users make free calls between users on the Internet or make very cheap calls to landline or mobile phone.

The firm has 25 million customers, aroused a keen interest of Microsoft and Cisco. It was founded in 2005 by Austrian entrepreneur Roman Scharf and Daniel Mattes.

"This acquisition expands our communication and delivery of JAJAH opens up new possibilities in the field of voice communication, said the General Director of Telefonica Europe, Matthew Key, in a statement.

Cell phone mania forces scramble for more airwaves

Wireless devices like the Apple iPhone is changing the way we were going online to which you are seeking ways of enabling find the nearest coffee shop and update Facebook on the go. All this comes at a price - in waves.

As mobile phones become more sophisticated, they send and receive data over the airwaves. But the spectrum of the radio spectrum is finite - and devices like the iPhone is allowed, only the extent of use it. TV and radio, Wi-Fi networks and other communications services and the airwaves. Any transfer of certain frequencies to avoid interference with others.

Today, wireless phone companies fear that they are in danger of running out of space, so that the overburdened networks to frustrate that users and slow innovation. Thus, the wireless companies want government to introduce them to the biggest slices Airwaves - even if others renounce the rights to them.

"Spectrum meets our roads," said Christopher Guttman-McCabe, Vice President of regulatory affairs for CTIA-The Wireless Association, a trade group of the industry. "That is how we move our traffic. And the volume of traffic increased so dramatically that we need more lanes. We need more highways.

That will not happen without a fight. Business Outreach looked at certain frequencies by broadcasters, corporate communications satellite and federal agencies how to use the Pentagon. Already some groups that may come back.

This means that difficult decisions are ahead. But one way or the other is in Washington to follow the explosive growth of the mobile market, insists Rep. Rick Boucher, D-Va. He is the author of legislation that a government inventory of waves on the tapes or only underutilized, which could be reallocated to identify would provide the mandate.

"It's not about whether we can find more spectrum," said Boucher, chairman of the House subcommittee on commercial communications, technology and the Internet. "We need to find a larger range.

CTIA, the industry group, urged the government to license an additional 800-megahertz airwaves available for wireless companies in the next six years. It would be an enormous expansion of the current portion of the industry to about 500 megahertz. The Federal Communications Commission prepares for more spectrum for commercial use make, but only 50 MHz in the pipeline.

Two trends are driving the demand.

First, given that use new, advanced wireless applications - such as mobile video and online games - more bandwidth than phone calls or text messages, "said Neville Ray, Senior Vice President of Engineering Operations, T-Mobile USA Inc.

Second, consumers are jumping into the wireless Internet connections, in some cases completely abandoned account cable network. ABI Research projects mobile broadband connections will increase the U.S. $ 150 million in 2014, compared to 48 million this year and 5 million in 2007.

The difficult situation, "said Jamie Hedlund, Vice President of regulatory affairs for the Consumer Electronics Association, is that many people take" the wireless experience should be the same as the wired experience, but the ability, all is there are just not sure .

The industry concerns will find a sympathetic ear in Washington.

Julius Genachowski, FCC chairman, said finding more space for industrial wireless broadband is an important part of the plan of his agency. The plan to increase from the bill in 2009, the task that is due in February and will propose that the use of wireless systems for broadband Internet connections in parts of the country which are also removed for fixed networks.

"If we want a world-leading broadband infrastructure for the nation, wireless is a key component," said Colin Crowell Genachowski assistance.

Lawrence Strickling, head of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, an arm of the Commerce Department that manages the use of waves of the covenant, the agency is also hunting for frequencies on the wireless industry can use.

Some of the crisis can be treated with technologies that efficient use of spectrum and new equipment that allows users to exchange tapes. The FCC also used to promote increased use of frequencies that are not allowed any such "spaces" between the bands of the television stations.

But these solutions alone will not solve the crisis, warns the wireless industry.

The attention of the FCC at this stage to television broadcasters, which almost 300 megahertz airwaves, which are mainly used to serve only 10 percent of U.S. households - which focuses exclusively on multiple television signals to keep level.

The FCC is currently considering various options, most broadcasters would not have enough capacity to deliver a high definition signal over the air. One option that would require congressional approval, is a voluntary program that allows dealers to sell excess bandwidth would be through an auction, either in government or directly to mobile operators. Although the FCC spectrum has licensed broadcasters for free a few years ago, those licenses are in millions of U.S. dollars today.

"Fewer people use air on television and at the same time more and more people are mobile broadband," said Blair Levin, an official of the monitoring of the plan broadband FCC. "So" make sense ... "for that asset in the hands, which can reach its greatest value."

The idea faces opposition from the powerful broadcasting lobby. Dennis Wharton, Executive Vice President of the National Association of Broadcasters, as proposed plans to stunt industry, innovative use of waves, which become free when he turned off analog broadcasts and go all digital in June, the station has already donated more than 100 megahertz of Radio frequencies for the government and wants to use the rest to transmit high-definition signals, "multicast" several channels and mobile TV to phones, computers, phones and cars provide.

"The FCC's proposal would kill many of our future business plans in the cradle," said Wharton.

Mobile operators are also places in the cross hairs on the frequencies chosen by companies that provide voice and data services via satellite.

Hedlund, the Consumer Electronics Association, notes that some of these companies have a lot of bandwidth, but not many customers. TerreStar Corp., for its part has its satellite launched in July and a number of subscribers. And ICO Global Communications, which runs tests on a satellite last year, is not known when they started commercial service.

But TerreStar General Counsel Doug Brandon believes has the company a strong argument for keeping the airwaves: a satellite can provide a critical lifeline in emergencies when other routes and in areas from rural areas where other airlines do not offer services.

If anything, "said Vice President ICO Christopher Doherty, satellite phone companies are ideal partners for mobile phone companies to expand coverage. TerreStar for his part, has a contract for AT & T Inc., the satellite services to sell.

Other possible sources of frequencies there are also agencies that handle everything from emergency communications for the monitoring operations. The Department of Defense, for example, requires the ether for critical installations such as radar, precision guided weapons, and drone aircraft.

The Pentagon has canceled several frequencies and development of technologies that can make more efficient use of the airwaves. He also said he is obligated to find compromises that work for public and commercial sectors, as these do not affect military capabilities.

Karl Nebbia, head of the NTIA Office of Spectrum Management, said that federal authorities to open May to move to different bands, as the government "a major user of commercial services to broadband." But a challenge is to ensure that users are required to move the federal funds - have, including the new equipment that may be paid with proceeds from the auctioning of spectrum.

At the moment, one thing is, everyone agrees that it is not an easy prey in the air.

"There is no open space anywhere," said Kathleen Ham, Vice President of regulatory affairs for T-Mobile.

Google sharpens aim on mobile marketing with AdMob

Four years ago, Omar Hamoui was just another businessman trying to inefficient Spruce his CV to graduate school.

Now he is in the new weapon to Google Inc., the company intends to extend its dominance of online advertising from computers to mobile devices.

Google is Hamoui acquisition of skills for the acquisition of 750 million AdMob, a network for the ads on iPhones and similar devices. He started the company, while fighting for his wife and children to support as a student at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School.

Hamoui, 32, has his life by changing to a system for advertising on mobile devices. Although this seems simple, it was a breakthrough because the network Hamoui the stifling controls that mobile operators had imposed on the contents of their customers see on their mobile phones bypassed. AdMob, the gap opened in walled gardens of the carriers' It is easier for independent programmers applications planted on mobile phones to receive.

His "It has great courage, because they (carriers) have been the guardians of the industry," said Rich Wong, an AdMob investor and board member who is from Accel Partners. "At the time, it was like when you say no to the Godfather. Bad things can happen."

More than a year after Hamoui lit the fuse, Apple Inc. blew the status quo in the June 2007 launch of the iPhone - that has created a platform for applications selected by the users.

That was the birth of more than 100,000 mobile "applications" for everything from bird watching to cook poultry. The revenue from the advertising network AdMob is one of the developers of the application of the main reasons to offer programs or immediately load a little money.

"Omar was absolutely at the forefront of this revolution in mobile media," said Jason Spero, AdMob's CEO in North America.

If the proposed acquisition by Google from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission is authorized Hamoui believes AdMob and 150 employees are in an even better position to be turning cell phones into the lucrative magnet.

Google put on him.

Based on more than 20 billion U.S. dollars revenue from ads on the Internet, Google has invested heavily in mobile technology. The leading Internet search is a free software system, Android, mobile devices and experimenting with its own phone, called Nexus One, which could be sold directly to consumers, runs developed.

Google believes that justify the explosive growth of mobile advertising their spending. For now, the market is still relatively small, with mobile advertising revenues in the United States should reach 416 million U.S. dollars this year, according to research firm eMarketer Inc.

AdMob has delivered nearly 140 billion ads on mobile websites and applications since its inception. This has contributed to AdMob double turnover this year, after it tripled in the last year. Hamoui is no longer accurate estimate, according to analysts that the revenue AdMob less this year from 45 million to 60 million.

It is generating less revenue that Google in a day. However, the leadership was involved in the early mobile advertising AdMob hardly Antitrust Authority already has the growing power of Google. The Federal Trade Commission requested more information on the agreement - a sign that the regulators will look more closely at how they affect competition in the mobile advertising market, which affects expected to quadruple in size over the next four years.

Only two of the acquisitions of Google have been greater than the proposed transaction, AdMob. The regulators quickly to purchase $ 1.76 billion Google-Video channel on the Internet, YouTube, in 2006, but took a year before signing off for the purchase of 3.2 billion U.S. dollars from another Internet Service ads, DoubleClick Inc., in 2008. (Incidentally, AdMob seat opposite the place where YouTube started in San Mateo, California, USA)

Google maintains its takeover AdMob will not hurt competition. Among other things, Google points to other networks of mobile advertising by its competitors as Jumptap, Mojiva and AOL, and argues that mobile ads yet to win generate spending enough to serve as a distinct market.

Hamoui started AdMob in frustration a few months later, he enrolled in the graduate school. He was the construction of a telephone help-friendly web site, for people to share pictures with family and friends, but he could not attract much traffic.

To spread the word, Hamoui bought some ads that appear alongside search results on Google, Yahoo and other engines. This eventually cost him about $ 30 per transfer, could not afford it. Hamoui decided that advertising works on its website other mobile sites that are specifically to be used with small screens and support technology of mobile phones to try.

Hamoui was ready a mobile site, run their ad for much less money and eventually pay only 10 cents per transfer. The experience echoes Hamoui studies on the efficiency of markets, and inspired him to a network that would build a better advertising on mobile devices.

If nothing else, he thought he could leave in a position to advertising network in a project that he, to a classical education would have to turn during his summer break in 2006. In this case, AdMob created enough buzz that Hamoui left Wharton in the spring.

A central element of his system is that it allows programmers to specify when and where your ads can appear if their applications run on a phone. The advertisers and others from the mass merchants makers can use its variable message have several goals - for example, everyone with an iPhone. And ads can be targeted at a specific demographic. An advertisement for the movie "Fast and Furious" may appear on a mobile game as "Tap Tap Revenge", which is popular with young men. Targeting often hits the mark: users tend to click on ads, moved five to eight times as common as on the PC ads, "said Hamoui.

Jim Goetz, which joined the Supervisory Board after AdMob firm Sequoia Capital, the first $ 4 million from 47 million U.S. dollars Venture Capital, AdMob, Hamoui share increased in comparison to some other successful entrepreneurs that has helped Sequoia. This group includes Apple's Steve Jobs, co-founder of Yahoo Jerry Yang and David Filo, and Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page.

"Omar is a bit like them," said Goetz. "He has ambition, intelligence and spark to something special."

By selling his startup to a big company, not have something Hamoui the other contractors. His investors say, he did so not because of money - AdMob much stayed on the bench, and by striking Hamoui does not seem to be causing them rich. He still running a lime-green Toyota Camry, the irony in a good mood around the offices AdMob raises. When he sports, he does so sparingly. AdMob, the Christmas party will take place next month, when prices are cheaper.

"I have thought we were capable of things we want much faster and much better with the resources we are at Google," said Hamoui. "We have already achieved much of what we wanted to do - allow advertising goes mobile, and the people, a mobile telephone company, without an agreement to begin with a first carrier."

A Google Phone May Dial Up Trouble

Google has help a lot of time and money building a broad alliance of companies invested Android, its operating system for mobile phones. The Open Handset Alliance now has 47 members, including hardware, software and chip companies. Now, Google is considering a move to a separate phone, sell, could undermine the coalition. Phone makers like Motorola and Samsung, in particular, could begin to view Google as a rival than an ally, if the search giant started selling products in a head-to-head with theirs. "This can destroy the Open Handset Alliance," said Will Stofega program manager of market research at IDC.

Google has not confirmed his intention to sell its own phone number. The company, in a 12th December blog, says he has only to employees, "a device that is innovative hardware with a partner with software that connects to the new Android mobile features and functionality test. But, suppose partner Google with a phone number for next year. He could the unit selling directly to customers, but Bloomberg BusinessWeek has learned that Google is in talks on the distribution of T-Mobile USA.

Google may need to sell its own smartphone, to be better with Apple, which has the lead early on to compete with the popular iPhone. To ensure its place in the new world of mobile computing, Google has a large number of people with Android phones, and a large community of developers who have submitted applications. Frank Meehan, CEO of INQ Mobile, a British company, which plans to release an Android phone in the next year, says a Google phone could benefit the entire market. "If that helps users like Android devices, making it good for us if we" start, "he said.

But Meehan and others have concerns. If Google is the best applications for new functions and features its own Android phone, it would have an unfair advantage. Michael Thompson, Senior Vice President of Nuance Android app developer says it is "very likely" that covered some phone makers Android if Google do business with mobile phones. Some partners in May switch allegiance to rivals such as Symbian, Android, the operating system supported by Nokia, or the decline of the Microsoft Windows phone. "If you bring Microsoft back into the game, I can not imagine a better way," said Jack Gold, principal at technology research J. Gold Associates, a business.

Kevin Burden, an analyst with consultancy ABI Research says Google may believe that he can best promote the capabilities of Android, motivate, and thus its partners. But it must recognize the risks, too. "It's kind of playing with fire," he said.

Nokia & Skype deal riles UK operators

A deal between Skype and Nokia announced at last month’s GSMA Mobile World Congress has reportedly angered UK operators Orange and O2. The VoIP firm and the world’s largest handset vendor announced in February plans to pre-install Skype into Nokia’s smartphones, starting with the N-Series. Nokia’s flagship N97 including Skype will go on sale in the third quarter of this year, the first fruit of the two companies’ agreement. However, according to Mobile Today, “O2 and Orange responded furiously” to the plans and may refuse to stock the N97 unless Nokia strips out the Skype client. The argument is believed to centre around ownership of the customer, as well as potential lost revenue from calls from Skype’s VoIP service. Rival operators 3 UK and T-Mobile UK are reportedly backing Nokia and Skype’s partnership.

Such developments are not the first time that concerns have been raised by mobile operators about what they potentially see as the competitive threat posed by Skype. In an interview with the Mobile World Congress Show Daily last month, Skype president Josh Silverman said operators should not see his company as a threat. “Operators sell access to networks,” he said. “We sell applications that drive demand for network access. We have a symbiotic relationship with network operators.” Back in 2006, Skype struck a deal with 3 UK for development of the 3 Skypephone that has sold around 500,000 units.gfsyd4798p

Japan cell phone goes 3D with special display

The Japanese already use their cell phones to shop, exchange e-mail and watch digital TV. Now comes another dimension to the ever-growing list of eye-catching mobile features: the 3D display.

The Hitachi Ltd.'s Wooo H001 cell phone, which went on sale last month in Japan for 50,000 yen ($510), has a tiny button that says "3D" below the keyboard. Push it, and the screen's image will appear three-dimensional, seeming to protrude slightly from the 3.1-inch liquid crystal display.

Similar to how 3D movies and TVs work, the technology takes advantage of how the human mind understands depth and spacing. By sending a slightly different image to each eye, the 3D cell phone creates the illusion of 3D, almost like a miniature hologram.

Some 3D theater and the 3D Hyundai TV require special glasses to shut out the image meant for the other eye. But the Wooo phone comes with its own invisible barriers packed inside the display to ensure the same effect.

Watching a tiny 3D image or animation video on a cell phone is fun — but for a few seconds. It gets a bit tiring on the eyes, once the novelty wears off.

The 3D feature works for any image, but it would be more enjoyable if there were more mobile content especially designed for 3D. Reading e-mail in 3D is simply nerve-racking.

There are no plans to sell the 3D cell in the United States and other overseas markets, according to mobile carrier KDDI Corp., which offers the phone. KDDI doesn't disclose the number of 3D handsets sold so far.

Nokia ponders the laptop business

We have just caught a glimpse of a Reuters report of Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, who is Nokia’s current boss, saying on Finnish TV what amounts to Nokia’s first official acknowledgement that they are prepared to enter the PC industry.

In recent weeks, we have seen PC manufacturers announced cell phones to add to their range of mobile PCs, and we now observe that this cuts both ways. Nokia may merely be the first handset maker to try its hand at the portable computer business.

Either way, it would be a safe bet that in the future laptops will come with built in voice capabilities, and so will handphone devices come with more and more laptop features. The question that must be asked is this: Will they use Microsoft Windows or new version of the Symbian OS for a Nokia laptop? One can’t help but suspect a modified Symbian OS is under development. After all, Nokia did buy the entire Symbian operation a little while ago.

Mobile Internet Search Engine Use Jumped 14% Between 2007 and 2008

According to surveys conducted by ABI Research in 2007 and 2008, 70% of respondents who used their mobile phones to access the Internet sought information through mobile search engines last year. That represents a substantial 14% increase over 2007. The consumption of mobile data services, including search, has steadily increased year over year as indicated by the use of email and web from a mobile phone.

That jump in mobile search usage is nearly double the increase in users who said they accessed mobile websites generally. “Mobile search represents a utility for information anytime and anywhere,” says senior analyst Jeff Orr. “With a few keywords, one can quickly identify movie times, the discography of a musical artist, recommendations for a local eatery and so much more.”

Some types of content accessed via mobile phones rose in popularity from 2007 to 2008. These included news, game downloads, music downloads, and especially video downloads. A significantly lower percentage in 2008 reported downloading a ringtone than the prior year, while the interest in location information, social networking and sports remained about the same.

“Use of the mobile phone goes well beyond voice calls,” says Orr. “A significant percentage of respondents say they use their handset for mobile email and web access, reflecting the broader access to inexpensive or all-you-can-eat mobile data services in the US.”

The surveys, each of which sampled more than 1000 mobile phone users in the United States aged 14-59 and across a wide range of demographic profiles, were conducted in November 2007 and December 2008. They queried users’ preferences with regard to a variety of mobile email and web usage questions.

India’s Tata may buy into Asean and African telcos

India’s Tata Communications is looking to expand its presence in Southeast Asia and Africa following its recent acquisition of South African fixed-line firm Neotel, reports Dow Jones Newswires. “We have invested in Neotel in South Africa and will take a similar approach in other emerging markets in Southeast Asia and in the future in Africa,” said Srinivas Adeppalli, senior vice-president of corporate strategy. According to the company’s new CFO, Sanjay Baweja, Tata Communications has around INR15 billion (USD303.7 million) in cash at present, dispelling earlier reports that the company’s cash position had reached a critical level. Adeppalli added that the company’s capital expenditure plans of USD400 million to USD500 million for the current fiscal year were on track, and would concentrate mainly on undersea cabling to connect India with Europe and South Africa.

According to reports last month, Tata Communications has approached the Indian government - a 26 percent shareholder in the firm - regarding a new rights issue to raise INR10 billion, plus taking on a further INR20 billion in debt. As well as the submarine cable project, the company is thought to need funds in order to acquire spectrum suitable for WiMAX in India’s forthcoming ‘Broadband Wireless Access’ (BWA) auction, which is scheduled to begin later this year alongside India’s 3G spectrum auction. The company is also looking to participate in the Tata Group’s sale of a stake in its mobile subsidiary, Tata Teleservices, to Japan’s NTT DoCoMo, Adeppalli said. NTT DoCoMo has agreed to buy a 26 percent stake in Tata Teleservices for USD2.7 billion. Tata Communications holds around 15 percent in Tata Teleservices and the report adds that Tata Communications may offer some of its stake to be sold to the Japanese firm.
